Force places and cult places in SAXONIA in GERMANY
High castle: Burzelmountain: The steep rock slopes of the Burzelmountain offered always already relative security to
humans, so that here already early humans must have settled. The two high-lying sources offered in addition still ideal living conditions.
Approx. 360 v.Chr around the master castle of the latenezeitlichen population a ring barrier from stones and oak bar was established, which led along the gerodeten plateau and protected also the sources.
For a source an oval waterbassin was struck in rock, to which stone stairs down-led. With the N-source one found numerous horse teeth in a deep pit. Further pits with fire victims point on a cult place. One
assumes the Burzelberg was in the late Latenezeit rather a meeting and a ritual place a settlement. Description of way: Leipzig 6 direction Dresden - > in Wurzen to high castle - > the Burzelberg is 3 km
nördl. of high castle at the N-edge of the Hohburger of mountains.
Mountain Oybin: The bronze-temporal barrier plant with the monastery and castle ruinis here on steep rock height.
1827 have K. Preusker on the mountain with the mysterious name as victim place hang-pointed.
Here one “by nature” holy place must have concerned. Also legends suggest that them may have possessed a special meaning for our ancestors. In the proximity rock designs at the “Thomas stones” were discovered.
Description of way: Dresden to Zittau - > there SW to Oybin - > to westl. Ausläufer of the place berauf.
Löbau: The attachment on the
Löbauer mountain “sheep mountain” from the same time and culture as Oybin is seen in the same connection. A former cult place and a holy mountain are assumed also here.
One by stone barrier fastened mountain settlement was discovered. Here a barrier with gate and terrace as well as bastion-like groups of rocks surround the summit plateau with a size of 5,3 hectars. At the edge several sources rise and inside the settlement are an artificially removed cistern.
